2. Because we checked in in a hurry, I wasn't told our room number, and I don't usually check the room number when leaving, especially since it wasn't on the room card. At 9:40 PM, I returned to the front desk, gave them the room card, and asked for our room number. They took a long time to look it up, and when we got to the room, the card wouldn't open the door. I went back to the front desk, and they actually suggested that I might have demagnetized the card by placing it with my phone? This is the first time I've seen a hotel blame the guest first when there's an issue... I had another room card that I hadn't taken out with me, and when I tried it later, it also didn't open the door, further proving it wasn't my fault.

Due to several incidents, I complained to the hotel that night. After the complaint, the hotel did offer some compensation to make up for our experience, which at least made us feel a bit better emotionally, but the flaws in service remain unaddressed.

Objectively, the hotel is beautiful, and the food at the restaurant is delicious. All the other service staff we encountered, apart from the front desk, were very good! However, my overall impression of the hotel is that it's overly fawning towards white guests. For someone like me, who has certain expectations for the emotional value of hotel service, Raffles would not be a good choice. But if you want to experience the hotel's unique history and style, it's definitely worth a try.

P.S. Due to the language barrier, communication was impossible. I said I'd contact the booking platform to resolve it. The front desk quickly pulled out a translation app and said they would apply for a room change for me and would notify me if one became available. However, they said it was impossible for that day as all twin rooms were occupied. I immediately contacted Ctrip and received the same response. Ctrip apologized and offered compensation. Left with no choice, I asked for an extra duvet and slept on the floor for a night. The next morning, I went to the front desk to ask about the room change. The staff member from yesterday wasn't there. A Chinese-speaking front desk agent said she couldn't see any room change request in the system. I asked what to do, and she told me to come back before 12 PM. Again, I had no choice but to contact Ctrip. The Ctrip staff told me they'd respond within half an hour, so it wouldn't delay my sightseeing. 1. We disembarked from the cruise ship at 7:30 AM and checked in that day, then went out to explore. I immediately expressed my unacceptance, stating that the official check-in time was 3 PM and I needed my room then. During this time, one white guest after another received their room cards from the front desk staff, who even offered them tea and water. I waited until the very last minute for a manager to come out, express a small apology, offer me water, and give my child a drawing kit to pacify us. Then, at 3:05 PM, when we finally got to the room, it still hadn't been fully cleaned... The funniest part was finding an empty chocolate box, as if inviting me to eat it...

2. Because we checked in in a hurry, I wasn't told our room number, and I don't usually check the room number when leaving, especially since it wasn't on the room card. At 9:40 PM, I returned to the front desk, gave them the room card, and asked for our room number. They took a long time to look it up, and when we got to the room, the card wouldn't open the door. I went back to the front desk, and they actually suggested that I might have demagnetized the card by placing it with my phone? This is the first time I've seen a hotel blame the guest first when there's an issue... I had another room card that I hadn't taken out with me, and when I tried it later, it also didn't open the door, further proving it wasn't my fault.

Due to several incidents, I complained to the hotel that night. After the complaint, the hotel did offer some compensation to make up for our experience, which at least made us feel a bit better emotionally, but the flaws in service remain unaddressed.

Objectively, the hotel is beautiful, and the food at the restaurant is delicious. All the other service staff we encountered, apart from the front desk, were very good! However, my overall impression of the hotel is that it's overly fawning towards white guests. For someone like me, who has certain expectations for the emotional value of hotel service, Raffles would not be a good choice. But if you want to experience the hotel's unique history and style, it's definitely worth a try.

Taking the bus from downstairs, it only takes 15 minutes to get to Marina Bay. There's a 7-Eleven and food stalls downstairs, offering plenty of dining options. The room is clean and spacious, with a water purifier, but no direct drinking water tap. There's also a water purifier next to the front desk. There's a pool and a gym; however, the pool closes quite early, so I didn't get a chance to swim. It looked very clean, operating from 7 am to 9 pm. There are no lifeguards, and I recall the depth was 1.2m. No deposit is required; you just need to fill in your email during check-in, and check-out is also very quick. Overall, I would say the interaction with the local and Asian staff are very good but not so for the rest. The rest are so clueless and unsure of what bare minimum service was. He checked and said there was exactly one last one available. The Chinese-speaking front desk staff, however, had always insisted there were no such rooms and claimed the beds in that room type were only 0.8 meters wide, and the table in the middle couldn't be moved to combine the beds, making it impossible to sleep with children.

I persevered until almost midnight, calling the front desk again with a persistent attitude, using the theory of “convenience for others is convenience for oneself.” After a lot of explaining, they finally agreed to let me switch rooms. And it turned out the coffee table in the middle could indeed be moved to combine the beds, which made it much more comfortable.

In conclusion: The hotel staff were generally quite warm, but it would have been even better if they had shown empathy from the start!

However, they said it was impossible for that day as all twin rooms were occupied. I immediately contacted Ctrip and received the same response. Ctrip apologized and offered compensation. Left with no choice, I asked for an extra duvet and slept on the floor for a night. The next morning, I went to the front desk to ask about the room change. The staff member from yesterday wasn't there. A Chinese-speaking front desk agent said she couldn't see any room change request in the system. I asked what to do, and she told me to come back before 12 PM. Again, I had no choice but to contact Ctrip. 1. We disembarked from the cruise ship at 7:30 AM and checked in that day, then went out to explore. I immediately expressed my unacceptance, stating that the official check-in time was 3 PM and I needed my room then. During this time, one white guest after another received their room cards from the front desk staff, who even offered them tea and water. I waited until the very last minute for a manager to come out, express a small apology, offer me water, and give my child a drawing kit to pacify us. Then, at 3:05 PM, when we finally got to the room, it still hadn't been fully cleaned... The funniest part was finding an empty chocolate box, as if inviting me to eat it...

2. Because we checked in in a hurry, I wasn't told our room number, and I don't usually check the room number when leaving, especially since it wasn't on the room card. At 9:40 PM, I returned to the front desk, gave them the room card, and asked for our room number. They took a long time to look it up, and when we got to the room, the card wouldn't open the door. I went back to the front desk, and they actually suggested that I might have demagnetized the card by placing it with my phone? This is the first time I've seen a hotel blame the guest first when there's an issue... I had another room card that I hadn't taken out with me, and when I tried it later, it also didn't open the door, further proving it wasn't my fault.

Due to several incidents, I complained to the hotel that night. After the complaint, the hotel did offer some compensation to make up for our experience, which at least made us feel a bit better emotionally, but the flaws in service remain unaddressed.

Objectively, the hotel is beautiful, and the food at the restaurant is delicious. All the other service staff we encountered, apart from the front desk, were very good! However, my overall impression of the hotel is that it's overly fawning towards white guests. For someone like me, who has certain expectations for the emotional value of hotel service, Raffles would not be a good choice. But if you want to experience the hotel's unique history and style, it's definitely worth a try.

P.S. After clearing customs, you need to follow the signs for 'Train to city' or 'MRT'. On the way, buy an Ez-link card at one of the tourist kiosks. We were offered an unlimited pass for $40, but we declined and bought top-up cards for $10 each, valid for our transit period in Singapore. From Singapore Airport to the city center, you first need to travel two stops to Tanah Merah station, alight at platform B, and then board a train marked 'to city' from the same platform. This is on the Green Line. Get off at Raffles Place station. Then, go up the stairs or take the elevator, and once upstairs, look for Exit D or E. Exit D is closer and more convenient for the hotel, but it goes through a shopping mall which might be closed in the evenings or on weekends. From either exit, turn right and walk along the main road without turning off. The main entrance of the building where the hotel is located leads to the CapitaSpring business center. You don't need to enter there; instead, walk a few meters past the main entrance on the right side, towards the taxi stand, where you'll find the hotel entrance. From there, you need to go up to the 9th floor, where the reception is. The hotel has three elevators: one for the reception from the 1st to the 9th floor, which is accessible to everyone. The second elevator goes from the 9th to the 17th floor and can only be used with a room key card. This elevator leads to the guest rooms. The third elevator is on the 17th floor in the garden and leads to the 51st floor observation deck, which is only open on weekdays until 6 PM.

Water dispensers are located opposite the elevators on each floor. To use the elevator to the rooms, you need to tap your key card and select your floor on the panel; the panel will then indicate which of the three elevators (by a letter designation) will arrive. The staff were polite. There was no deposit required upon check-in, but they asked for a credit card number for registration. The rooms are clean, cozy, and have a good view. The renovation is fresh. The curtains are practically blackout, providing excellent darkening. However, there's a green sensor light on the ceiling in the room's hallway that seems quite bright at night, like a nightlight. The hotel's location isn't far from the MRT station. Haji Lane and BOSS HOTEL (the starting point for the Legoland shuttle) are all within walking distance, and there are many bus routes nearby, making transportation very convenient. There are plenty of food and drink options downstairs, and there's an Indian minimart across the street from the hotel that's much cheaper than the 7-Eleven down the block.

I misplaced something and when I called, they immediately knew which room I was in and what I had lost, which shows excellent coordination between the front desk and housekeeping. Twin rooms are quite rare in Singapore, or they're very expensive. Most hotels assign rooms randomly. I specifically requested a twin room and no connecting room. I arrived at the hotel at 3:30 PM. There was no Chinese-speaking staff, and my English is practically non-existent. Through gestures and a translation app, I was told there were no rooms available and I had to wait. I paid a 200 SGD deposit and finally got my room key at 5:00 PM. As soon as I entered the room, I was stunned – it was a king-size bed. As a mother traveling with an 18-year-old son, this wasn't going to work. I went back to the front desk, and they said my booking was for a king-size bed. Due to the language barrier, communication was impossible. I said I'd contact the booking platform to resolve it. The front desk quickly pulled out a translation app and said they would apply for a room change for me and would notify me if one became available. However, they said it was impossible for that day as all twin rooms were occupied. I immediately contacted Ctrip and received the same response. Ctrip apologized and offered compensation. Left with no choice, I asked for an extra duvet and slept on the floor for a night. The next morning, I went to the front desk to ask about the room change. The staff member from yesterday wasn't there. A Chinese-speaking front desk agent said she couldn't see any room change request in the system. I asked what to do, and she told me to come back before 12 PM. Again, I had no choice but to contact Ctrip. The Ctrip staff told me they'd respond within half an hour, so it wouldn't delay my sightseeing. Within half an hour, they informed me they had contacted the hotel, and the hotel manager checked the system and confirmed there were indeed no rooms. They would contact me if a room became available. As I was about to complain further, the hotel proactively contacted me to say a room was ready. This experience taught me that when booking overseas hotels, Ctrip is excellent for after-sales service.

The king-size room on the 10th floor that I got on the first day, although it was a connecting room, wasn't noisy, and the room had no strange smells. The bathroom was large. The twin room I moved to on the 4th floor was also good and not noisy, but it had a slight smell, and the bathroom was much smaller. Overall, the hygiene was good, and the hotel's location is superb. Plus, it's only a 3-minute walk to City Hall MRT station – incredibly convenient! Ya Kun Kaya Toast is right inside Funan Mall, and Song Fa Bak Kut Teh is directly opposite the Old Hill Street Police Station, so convenient! The hotel service was also excellent. On check-in day, we met a guy who spoke Chinese, and he arranged a room for us directly facing Marina Bay Sands – absolutely beautiful! Next time I visit Singapore, I'll definitely stay at Wyndham again! P.S.: The colorful building in picture 3 is right behind the hotel.
